He wanted to extend the Bush tax cuts to the upper 2%, and then gift them with even 20% more off their taxes. He wanted to gift the defense industry by raising spending to unprecedented levels. He wanted to give big coal gifts by cutting subsidies for alternative energy. I could go on and on with examples, but the point is that this is the same old same old tried-and-failed supply-side "mine doesn't stink" nonsense: helping poor people with money creates government dependency, but helping rich people with money is helping the whole country. Bollocks!
Conservatives complain on and on about this country becoming more like Europe. So what's the problem if everybody has food, a place to live, and health care?
The real reason conservatices complain is that they would like the USA to be more like Latin American countries, where you have a small number of very rich people, huge swaths of extremely poor, and no middle class to speak of. It's not enough for the ultra mega wealthy to enjoy their luxury cars, travel, and second homes, they need poor people suffering, too, or else their comforts just don't seem comfortable enough...
Thank you, Mitt Romney, for spilling the conservative id out for everybody to see. Thank you for your service. Now we can get back to creating an America that seeks to promote the common good, because it's okay for us to care about each other, because that's what we want to do, and the election proves you can't appeal enough to people's fear and hatred to make that go away. United we stand!
